Call for Papers: “Good Houses · Good Gas” Column in Urban Gas

2026-01-30 City Gas Magazine Press

Building “good houses” is a key focus for advancing high-quality housing development, with safety, comfort, green practices, and smart technologies as the core objectives. By implementing a closed-loop system across the entire value chain—comprising “good standards, good design, good materials, good construction, and good operation and maintenance”—the aim is to meet the public’s aspirations for a high?quality living experience. As an energy carrier deeply integrated with residential construction, natural gas not only provides essential support for daily life but also serves as a critical enabler of green, low?carbon, safe, reliable, comfortable, and convenient “good houses.” The quality of its entire supply chain directly determines the stability of residential energy systems and the overall sense of well?being in the living experience.

Against the backdrop of accelerating energy transition and multi-energy synergy, the gas industry is encountering new opportunities and challenges as it becomes deeply integrated with residential construction. How to align the clean attributes and stable advantages of gas with every stage of “good home” development, and how to leverage standardization, innovative design, high-quality materials, refined construction, and intelligent operations to transform gas into a standard, high?quality component of “good homes” are not only practical imperatives for enhancing residential quality but also crucial pathways for the gas industry to embrace green development, expand application scenarios, and achieve high?quality growth.

To foster industry consensus and establish a platform for exchanging best practices in “high-quality standards, design, materials, construction, and operation & maintenance,” our journal plans to introduce the “Good Homes, Good Gas” column in the 2026 issue of Urban Gas. We cordially invite experts, scholars, researchers, technical personnel, and managers from across the national gas sector to actively participate and jointly contribute the power of gas to the development of “good homes.”

       I. Scope of Submissions

Good Standards: Alignment of residential gas safety, comfort, green, and smart standards with the overarching “good house” standard; differentiated gas?fitting standards tailored to specific regions and housing types; recommendations for the development of mandatory standards for key processes such as gas metering, safety inspections, and emergency response; and a coordinated optimization plan integrating gas?related standards with existing building and energy industry standards.

Good Design: Integrated design solutions for gas pipelines, equipment, and residential structures and interiors; key design considerations for concealed gas installations that balance safety and aesthetics; coordinated design approaches for gas systems in conjunction with heating, hot water, kitchen appliances, and other systems; innovative embedded design of smart gas terminals in residential settings; complementary and synergistic design applications integrating gas with electricity, photovoltaics, and other energy sources.

Good materials: Selection of key components such as high-safety-grade, corrosion-resistant gas piping and smart valves; differentiated material selection tailored to diverse environmental conditions; research and development and application of green, environmentally friendly gas materials.

Easy to Construct: Key Points for the Coordination of Gas Engineering with Residential Main Construction and Quality Control; Standardized Construction Plans for Critical Processes Such as Pipeline Welding, Installation, and Pressure Testing; On-Site Gas Safety Protection and the Application of Intelligent Construction Technologies.

Good Operations and Maintenance: Standardized procedures and recommended frequencies for regular safety inspections and maintenance of gas facilities; development of a smart operations and maintenance platform, along with training for residents and emergency response services; operational coordination mechanisms for the upgrading and renovation of aging residential gas infrastructure; case studies on end-to-end closed-loop management of the entire gas supply chain.
